Is Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking Beneficial as an Adjunct to the Conventional Treatment of Bacterial Keratitis?

Background: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of corneal collagen cross-linking CXL as an adjuvant to standard antimicrobial agents in treatment bacterial keratitis when compared with alone. Methods: This prospective comparative interventional study included 20 eyes patients clinical and laboratory evidence who attended Outpatient Cornea Unit, Ophthalmology Department, Faculty Medicine Assiut University Hospital, Assiut, between January 2019 December 2020.Patients were divided into two groups: group A, treated using Dresden Protocol at EL-Nour Eye Centre, B antibiotics Results: Group A had ten age range 20-80 years (mean 49.2 years), while that (ten patients) was 19 -70 47.3 years).
